About The Show
La Taverna Friuli Wine is the first podcast devoted exclusively to the wines of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Together with live audio rooms on Clubhouse (and other platforms coming soon!) we bring you converstions with producers of Friulian wine, and also interviews with authors, wine buyers, enoteca and wine bar owners.
Our Hosts
I'm Wayne Young, a transplanted American living and working in Friuli Venezia Giulia in Italy since 1998. After being awarded the WSET Diploma and stints working for Wine Spectator Magazine and as a somm at Joe Bastianich's Becco restaurant in New York, I decided to try my hand at cellar work. My plan was to return to New York and start a new chapter in the wine business after my first harvest... But three months became 4 years, and after marrying my Italian girlfriend, I moved to Udine permanently in 2002. I LOVE the wines from this region, and I love being able to have these conversations with the people who create them.
My name's Natalie Benlolo, an original Londoner and worldwide traveller who's lived in this obscure, beautiful and hidden corner of Italy for over 18 years. My curiosity and love of people and culture along with diverse professional experience has brought me to where I am today - on an exploration of my love of wine through the eyes of the Friulian winegrowers and their infectious passion and a commitment to creating experiences in this region for wine lovers and travellers looking to taste it all.
